List of Bartol Mag-Probe Magnetic Field Detector Functions

  • REDUCE DOWNTIME

Will Reduce Downtime Quickly and Safely by lowering the time it takes to separate mechanical from electrical problems. Most effective when conducting your first test on an electrically operated solenoid valve, relay or coil.

  • PORTABLE

It is portable, simple and easy to use.

  • SPEED

Isolates problem as mechanical or electrical in seconds. Provides confirmation of the electrical field immediately. When a Magnetic Field is detected it proves, “voltage, current, and continuity, is present.”

  • NON-CONTACT

No Direct Connection is needed because it senses the magnetic field around a solenoid valve, relay or coil. (Great for conducting tests where making contact is difficult)

  • SCHEMATICS

No need to follow schematics to isolate the terminal strip

  • SALT & MOISTURE PROOF

Continues to work effectively in or around ocean salt spray, extremely humid environments and underwater.

  • INTRINSICALLY SAFE

Can be used in all volatile and explosive environments because it is a completely self-contained sealed unit. Does not need to make a direct connection and is Constructed of Non-Conductive Materials

  • COMPOSITE

The composite allows the Mag-Probe to be sterilized using a cold process.

  • VACUUM

The Mag-Probe can conduct a test effectively in a vacuum.

  • NO ELECTROSTATIC FIELD

The Mag-Probe composite generates no electrostatic field.

  • LOCATES RESIDUAL MAGNETISM

Can detect residual magnetism on solenoid valves and relays or raw metal stock as low as 3 gauss, 1 gauss with the ring magnet attached. (See instructions)

  • DETECTS TRANSIENT PULSES

Detects transient pulses and momentary loss of power as low as 10 milliseconds

  • IDENTIFIES NORTH & SOUTH POLES

By turning the ring magnet around the Mag-Probe can be used when checking magnetic north and south poles

  • PREVENTS LOADING OF COMPUTER DRIVERS

Prevents loading of the computer output drivers

  • OPERATES IN EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS

The Bartol Mag-Probe has been tested and worked effectively in temperatures ranging from -40°F to +160°F

  • MAG-PROBE CAN CONDUCT TESTS WHILE EQUIPMENT IS FULLY OPERATIONAL

One of the biggest advantages when using a Mag-Probe is the ability to check solenoid valves and relays while equipment is operating. This enables technicians and mechanics the ability to find intermittent problems with solenoid valves and relays while the equipment is running.

  • WATER PROOF

Because it is a self-contained sealed unit the Mag-Probe can be used underwater. It can conduct a test as low as 40 feet below the surface.

The Purpose of the Bartol Mag-Probe Blog Is

To provide information that will help technicians troubleshoot solenoid valves and relays faster, and more effectively. The Mag-Probe will drastically reduce the time it takes to test an electrically operated solenoid valve, relay or coil. It does this by separating electrical from mechanical problems in seconds.

This blog is not advocating technicians stop using voltmeters only start their testing procedure with a Mag-Probe Field Detector. By doing this they will be able to separate mechanical from electrical problems on solenoid valves and relays in seconds.

The Mag-Probe will enable technicians to make their test without making a direct connection, pulling out prints, or accessing a terminal strip. Because the Mag-Probe is a non-contact tester, tests can be made while the equipment is operational, safety permitting. Once the determination is made whether the problem is electrical or mechanical, then further tests can be made with a voltmeter if needed.
